January 24, 2018, Mount Airy, Maryland - At approximately 4:19 P.M. Firefighters were called to the 5800 Block Cabbage Spring Road for a reported house fire. Units arrived to find a single-family home with fire-showing. Additional assistance was requested including a tanker task force, a rapid intervention dispatch and a complete second alarm bringing firefighters from Carroll, Howard, Frederick and Montgomery counties. The house was located in an area that did not have fire hydrants and one fire official said water supply did hamper the fire attack. Two civilians were evaluated and transported to local hospitals with non-life threating injuries. At the time of this writing, units are still on the scene.  The Office of the State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause and origin.
